Cosmetic dental treatments available at our Cambridge clinic
The following four treatments cover the most common cosmetic concerns we see. Each can be done at our Hespeler Road location with no referral to a separate specialist required.
Professional teeth whitening
Professional in-office whitening uses a stronger bleaching agent than anything available in a pharmacy. The result is noticeably lighter teeth, usually in a single appointment. Coffee, tea, wine, and tobacco staining respond well to this treatment.
In-office professional teeth whitening in Ontario generally runs between $250 and $750, depending on the clinic and treatment protocol. Most dental insurance plans classify whitening as cosmetic and do not cover it. We can advise on financing options during your consultation.
For more detail on the whitening process and what to expect, see our dedicated teeth whitening page.
Dental veneers
Veneers are thin shells, usually made from porcelain, bonded to the front surface of a tooth. They correct chips, cracks, gaps, and deep discolouration that whitening alone cannot fix. A small amount of enamel is removed before placement, so veneers are a permanent change.
Porcelain veneers in Ontario typically range from $800 to $2,500 per tooth, depending on the number of teeth involved and the complexity of the case. They generally last 10 to 20 years with proper care. Composite veneers cost less upfront but have a shorter lifespan, typically five to eight years.
Dental insurance in Canada usually does not cover veneers because they are classified as cosmetic. We accept iFinancing and can discuss payment options at your appointment.
Dental bonding
Bonding uses a tooth-coloured resin material shaped directly onto the tooth and hardened with a curing light. It is a good option for chipped teeth, small gaps, minor shape corrections, and surface discolouration. Most bonding is completed in a single visit.
Dental bonding in Ontario runs approximately $150 to $425 per tooth, based on the Canadian Dental Association fee guide range. It is the most affordable cosmetic option, though bonding material stains more easily than porcelain and may need touching up over time.
Dental crowns
A crown fits over the entire visible portion of a tooth. It is used both to restore a damaged tooth and to improve its appearance. We offer crowns in gold, porcelain fused to metal, and pure porcelain. Porcelain crowns closely match the natural colour and shape of surrounding teeth.
Crowns are often recommended when a tooth has too much damage or decay for a filling or veneer to address adequately. They are also used after root canal treatment to protect the treated tooth. For more on crowns in a restorative context, see our dental restorations page.

What makes Cambridge Centre Dental Care different for cosmetic work
Several things separate this clinic from a typical general dentist office. These are functional differences, not marketing claims.
A multi-doctor team in one location
Dr. Mazin Hamdi DDS MSc has 25 years of experience in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, including root canal, oral surgery, and prosthetic work. Dr. Marc Farid DDS focuses on cosmetic dentistry and pediatric care. Having multiple practitioners with overlapping skills means most patients do not need referrals out of the clinic for adjacent procedures.
Digital scanning rather than traditional impressions
We have three intraoral scanners on-site: the Trios 6, Trios 3, and iTero Lumina. Digital scans are more precise than traditional putty impressions and take a fraction of the time. For veneer and crown work, this matters. An accurate digital scan reduces the likelihood of remakes or poorly fitting restorations.
Sedation available for patients who find dental visits difficult
Dental anxiety is one of the main reasons people delay cosmetic treatment for years. We offer oral sedation, IV sedation, and full general anesthesia for patients who need it. Dr. Firas Al-Qadhi is a Royal College-certified anesthesiologist and staff anesthesiologist at Guelph General Hospital. He provides general anesthesia at our clinic when needed.
Open seven days a week, including evenings
We are open Monday through Thursday 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Friday and Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM by appointment. Evening and weekend availability matters most for patients who work standard hours and cannot take time off for multiple cosmetic appointments.
Free parking at Cambridge Centre Mall
We are at 355 Hespeler Road inside Cambridge Centre Mall, Unit 218. There is free parking directly outside the mall entrance, accessible from Highway 401. Patients come from across Cambridge, including Galt, Preston, and Hespeler, as well as from Kitchener, Waterloo, and Guelph.
Multiple languages spoken at the clinic
Our team speaks English, Arabic, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Filipino (Tagalog), and Vietnamese. Cambridge and the broader Waterloo Region have large and diverse communities. We want patients to be able to discuss their treatment options in the language they are most comfortable using.
Cost and insurance for cosmetic dental treatment in Cambridge
Cosmetic dental treatments are almost always classified as elective by insurers. Most private insurance plans do not cover them. There are exceptions. If a crown or veneer is required to repair a tooth damaged by decay or trauma, your plan may contribute. Check with your provider directly.
Your specific cost depends on the number of teeth involved, the materials chosen, and your individual treatment plan. We provide a written quote before any treatment begins.
The Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP) does not cover cosmetic dental procedures. If you are CDCP-eligible and need a crown or other work that overlaps cosmetic and restorative purposes, speak with our team at your consultation. We will clarify exactly what would and would not apply.
We accept all major private insurance plans, NIHB, IFHP, cash, credit, debit, cheque, Interac e-Transfer, and iFinancing for patients who prefer monthly payments.
Are you a candidate for cosmetic dentistry?
Most patients in good oral health are candidates for at least one cosmetic treatment. That said, underlying issues come first. Active tooth decay or gum disease needs to be resolved before cosmetic procedures begin. This protects your health and the longevity of any work done.
Start with a consultation. One of our general dentists examines your teeth, hears your concerns, and tells you which options actually fit your situation. We do not recommend a treatment until we understand what we are working with.
Cosmetic dentistry is suitable for teens and adults. If you are asking on behalf of a younger patient, we can advise on what is appropriate for their stage of development.
What to expect from your cosmetic consultation
Step 1: Initial examination and discussion
Your Cambridge dentist examines your teeth, takes digital scans or X-rays as needed, and asks about your goals. This is where you describe what bothers you and what you are hoping for. There is no pressure at this stage.
Step 2: Treatment plan and written quote
Based on the exam, your dentist outlines which treatments would address your concerns and explains the trade-offs between options. You receive a written cost estimate before agreeing to anything.
Step 3: Scheduling your treatment
Some treatments, like bonding and whitening, happen in a single visit. Others, like veneers or crowns, require two appointments: one for preparation and digital scanning, and one for fitting and bonding the final restoration. Your dentist explains the timeline at consultation.
Step 4: Aftercare
Cosmetic work lasts longer with proper care. For veneers and crowns, this means regular brushing and flossing, not using teeth as tools, and wearing a night guard if you grind. For whitening, avoiding heavily staining foods and drinks for 24 to 48 hours after treatment helps maintain results. We go through aftercare instructions with you before you leave.

Frequently asked questions about cosmetic dentistry in Cambridge
In Ontario, cosmetic dentistry is not a recognized dental specialty under the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO). All dentists performing cosmetic procedures in this province are general practitioners. At Cambridge Centre Dental Care, general dentists including Dr. Marc Farid DDS and Dr. Mazin Hamdi DDS MSc perform cosmetic work including veneers, crowns, and bonding. Professional whitening, when performed correctly, does not damage enamel. The bleaching agents used in dental offices work on the organic compounds in the enamel that cause discolouration, without removing enamel structure itself. Some patients experience temporary sensitivity after whitening, which typically resolves within a few days. We can discuss options to minimize sensitivity during your consultation. Porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 20 years. A 2022 study in Dental Materials found that porcelain veneers had an annual failure rate of 1.2% over 10 years, compared to 4.1% for composite veneers. Longevity depends on care: regular cleaning, not biting hard objects, and wearing a night guard if you grind your teeth all extend the life of veneers significantly. Dental bonding is not permanent. The resin material will eventually chip, stain, or wear down, and most bonding lasts four to eight years before it needs repair or replacement. It is the most conservative cosmetic option because no enamel is removed during the procedure. If bonding wears down, it can usually be repaired in a single appointment. Most private dental insurance plans in Canada do not cover procedures classified as purely cosmetic, including whitening and veneers. Exceptions exist when a procedure has a restorative component. For example, a crown placed to protect a heavily decayed or cracked tooth may be covered in part. We provide a written estimate and can flag which portions of your treatment may be eligible before you commit. Yes. We offer oral sedation, IV sedation, and full general anesthesia for patients who find dental procedures difficult. For cosmetic cases, oral or IV sedation is the most common approach. Dr. Stephanie Harper DDS is also a certified nitrous oxide sedation provider for patients who prefer a lighter level of relaxation. We discuss which option is right for you based on the procedure and your level of anxiety. That depends on what the problem is. Whitening addresses colour only. It cannot fix chips, gaps, or shape. Bonding works for minor chips and small gaps, but it stains more easily than porcelain and is less durable long-term. Veneers address colour, shape, gaps, and chips together and last longer, but they cost more and require enamel removal. At your consultation, our dentist looks at your teeth and tells you which option fits your situation and budget, rather than steering you toward the most expensive option by default. Yes. We accept cash, credit, debit, cheque, and Interac e-Transfer. We also offer iFinancing, a third-party financing option that allows patients to spread payments over time. If cost is a consideration, mention it at your consultation and we can discuss staging your treatment across multiple appointments to fit your budget.
