Porcelain Veneers in Cambridge, ON

A chipped front tooth, a stubborn gap between your incisors, or deep discolouration that whitening has never touched can make you self-conscious every time you smile in a photo. Porcelain veneers cover these issues with thin custom shells bonded to the front of your teeth. The result looks like natural tooth enamel because porcelain reflects light the same way enamel does.

At Cambridge Centre Dental Care, general dentists including Dr. Marc Farid DDS and Dr. Mazin Hamdi DDS MSc place porcelain veneers at our clinic on 355 Hespeler Road inside Cambridge Centre Mall. Dr. Farid focuses on cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Hamdi has over 25 years of restorative and cosmetic experience. Veneer work is performed by general dentists in Ontario, and cases are planned around your specific teeth rather than a one-size template.

We use digital intraoral scanners (the Trios 6, Trios 3, and iTero Lumina) to design and fit veneers. No putty impressions. We are open seven days a week, including evenings until 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday.

What porcelain veneers can and cannot fix

Veneers are a good solution for specific cosmetic concerns. They are not right for every situation, and an honest consultation will tell you which category your teeth fall into.

What veneers fix well

Veneers work for teeth that are structurally healthy but cosmetically imperfect. They cover deep stains that professional whitening cannot lighten, such as tetracycline staining or discolouration from a previous root canal. They close small gaps between teeth, mask chips and minor cracks, and even out teeth that are slightly uneven in shape or length.

What veneers do not fix

Veneers are not a structural repair. A tooth that has extensive decay, a large failed filling, or significant damage needs a crown, not a veneer, because a veneer only covers the front surface. Veneers also do not correct significant misalignment or bite problems. For those, orthodontic treatment (braces or Invisalign) addresses the underlying position of the teeth. Your dentist will tell you honestly if a veneer will not hold up for what you need.

Veneers, Bonding, or Whitening: Which Is Right for You?

These Three Cosmetic Treatments Overlap in What They Can Achieve, but They Differ in Cost, Durability, and How Much of Your Natural Tooth Is Affected. This Table Compares Them Directly.

Factor Porcelain veneers Dental bonding Teeth whitening
Fixes Chips, gaps, deep stains, shape Minor chips, small gaps, shape Colour only
Enamel removed Small amount (permanent) Little to none None
Reversible No Usually yes Yes
Lifespan 10-20 years 5-8 years 6-12 months per treatment
Typical Appointments 2 (prep + fit) 1 (single visit) 1

If cost is your main concern and the imperfection is minor, bonding may be the better fit. If you want the longest-lasting and most stain-resistant result, porcelain veneers are stronger. See our dental bonding page to compare in more detail.

Why Choose Cambridge Centre Dental Care for Porcelain Veneers

Cosmetic-focused general dentists

Dr. Marc Farid DDS focuses his practice on cosmetic dentistry, and Dr. Mazin Hamdi DDS MSc has 25 years of restorative and cosmetic experience. Veneer work depends heavily on shade matching, shape design, and precise fit. Experience with these details is what separates a natural result from an obvious one.

Digital scanning for precise veneer design

We use three intraoral scanners on-site: the Trios 6, Trios 3, and iTero Lumina. A digital scan captures your teeth in detail so the lab can fabricate veneers that fit precisely at the margins. A poor fit at the gum line is where veneers fail or trap plaque, so accuracy here matters for both appearance and longevity.

Honest candidacy assessment

Veneers involve permanently removing a small amount of enamel, so they are not a decision to rush. At your consultation, your dentist reviews whether veneers, bonding, or another option best suits your teeth and goals. If a less invasive option would serve you as well, we will say so.

Open 7 days including evenings

Veneer appointments are available Monday through Thursday until 7:00 PM, Friday and Saturday until 5:00 PM, and Sunday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM by appointment. The two-appointment process can be scheduled around your work week.

Financing available

Because veneers are cosmetic, insurance does not typically cover them. We accept iFinancing, a third-party financing option that lets you spread the cost over time, along with cash, credit, debit, cheque, and Interac e-Transfer.

Cost of Porcelain Veneers in Cambridge

Veneers are priced per tooth. Most patients treat the 6 to 10 upper front teeth that show when they smile rather than a full set.

Most dental insurance plans in Canada classify veneers as cosmetic and do not cover them. The exception is when a veneer is placed to repair a tooth damaged by trauma or decay, in which case partial coverage may apply. We will flag any portion that might be eligible before you commit.

The Porcelain Veneer Process

Step 1: Consultation and smile design

Your dentist examines your teeth, discusses your goals, and takes digital scans and photographs. This is where the shade, shape, and number of veneers are planned. You are shown what is realistic for your teeth before any work begins.

Step 2: Tooth preparation

A small amount of enamel is typically removed from the front of each tooth to make room for the veneer. Local anesthetic keeps you comfortable. A digital scan of the prepared teeth is sent to the lab, and temporary veneers are placed while the permanent ones are fabricated.

Step 3: Fabrication

The dental lab fabricates your porcelain veneers to the shade and shape agreed at consultation. This typically takes 2 to 3 weeks. The temporaries protect your prepared teeth in the meantime.

Step 4: Bonding the veneers

At the second appointment, the temporaries are removed and the fit and colour of the permanent veneers are checked before they are bonded permanently to your teeth. Your dentist checks your bite and makes any adjustments. You leave with the final result in place.

Caring for Your Veneers

Porcelain veneers do not decay, but the natural tooth underneath and the gum around them can. Brush twice daily, floss around each veneer, and attend regular hygiene appointments. Porcelain resists staining well, but the bonding edges can pick up stain over years, so limiting coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco helps.

Avoid using your veneered teeth to bite hard objects like ice, pen caps, or fingernails. Porcelain is strong but can chip under sharp impact. If you grind your teeth at night, a night guard protects both the veneers and your natural teeth. With proper care, porcelain veneers last 10 to 20 years before they need replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions About Porcelain Veneers in Cambridge

Porcelain veneers are permanent in the sense that the enamel removed during preparation does not grow back. Once you have veneers, the teeth will always need veneers or another restoration covering them. The veneers themselves last 10 to 20 years and can be replaced when worn, but the underlying commitment is permanent. This is why an honest candidacy assessment matters before you proceed.

Veneers do not ruin the teeth, but they do typically require removing a small amount of enamel, which is irreversible. The tooth underneath remains healthy and functional. Proper oral hygiene keeps the natural tooth and gum tissue healthy beneath the veneer. The key point is that the decision to remove enamel cannot be undone, so it should be made with full information.

Porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 20 years with proper care. Composite veneers have a shorter lifespan, usually 5 to 8 years. Longevity depends on oral hygiene, whether you grind your teeth, and avoiding using your teeth to bite hard objects. A night guard extends the veneer lifespan for patients who grind.

Most dental insurance plans in Canada do not cover veneers because they are classified as a cosmetic procedure. The exception is when a veneer is required to restore a tooth damaged by trauma or decay, where partial coverage may apply. We accept iFinancing for patients who want to spread the cost. We will tell you at consultation whether any portion of your treatment might be eligible for coverage.

The preparation appointment uses local anesthetic, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. Some patients experience mild sensitivity to hot and cold for a few days after the enamel is prepared, which settles as the teeth adjust to the temporaries and then the final veneers. Over-the-counter pain relievers manage any discomfort.

No. Porcelain does not respond to whitening treatments the way natural enamel does. This is why shade is chosen carefully at the consultation. If you plan to whiten your natural teeth, that should be done before veneers are made so the veneer colour can be matched to your whitened teeth. Discuss this sequence with your dentist at the consultation.

That depends on how many teeth show when you smile and which teeth have cosmetic concerns. Most patients treat the 6 to 10 upper front teeth visible in a smile. Some only need one or two to address a specific chipped or discoloured tooth. Your dentist will recommend a number based on your smile line and your goals at the consultation.

A veneer covers only the front surface of a tooth and is used for cosmetic concerns on structurally healthy teeth. A crown covers the entire tooth and is used when the tooth is structurally damaged, heavily decayed, or has had root canal treatment. If a tooth needs significant structural support, a crown is the correct choice, not a veneer.
